A ranking of states was released today for the Business Reform Action Plan 2018-19. The ranking is based on the implementation of the Business Reform Action Plan launched in 2015. Earlier the rankings of the states were released in 2015, 2016 and 2017-18. Business Reform Action Plan 2018-19 includes 181 Reform Points covering 45 Business Regulatory, Access to Information, Single Window System, Labor, Environment etc.

The objective of this entire process is to increase competition between states and improve the business environment to attract domestic and global investors. The states are given rankings based on several parameters such as construction permits, labour regulation, environmental registration, access to information, availability of land and a single window system.

The Department of Industry and Internal Trade Promotion (DPIIT) completes this process for all states and union territories under the Business Improvement Action Plan. The previous ranking was released in July 2018. At that time Andhra Pradesh stood first. It was followed by Telangana and Haryana respectively.
