How to differentiate between genuine and fake currency notes?

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is the largest monetary authority in the country. It is also called a bank of banks. RBI only issues notes ranging from 2 rupees to 2000 rupees, except one rupee note in India, because one rupee note is issued by the Ministry of Finance. Now, in such a big view, the supply of fake currency among the supply of money can also not be ruled out.

Some of the features of real currency are as follows, by which fake currency notes can be identified.

1. Security Thread

This security thread ranges from a 5 rupee note to a 2000 rupee currency note as well. On the note, it is on the left side of the picture of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. The thread is in a straight line. If someone brings the note in front of the light, then the value of the note, India and RBI starts to shine on this thread. Also, keep in mind that if the note is fake, then rubbing this thread starts to lose its colour.

2. Watermark

You must see the watermark on any note. A photo of Mahatma Gandhi is made in a place with a watermark of all real notes. When you make the note slightly slant, then you will see a photo of Mahatma Gandhi in the watermark.

3. Micro-Lettering

In the 2000 currency note, 2000 and RBI is written in very small letters in the inner part of the yellow line. The notes of 5 and 10 rupees only have 'RBI' written on this place, whereas currency notes with a value of more than 20 rupees have 'RBI' as well as the value of the note. You can see this handwriting well with the help of a magnifying glass.

4. Latent Image

The 2000 note has a latent image below on the left, in which the value of the note is written 2000. This can be seen only when tilting a note at a 45-degree angle in front of the eyes.

5. Identification Mark

It is made of a special kind of mark which is to the left of the watermark. It is shaped differently in all notes. This vertical rectangle is made for 20 rupees, square shape for 50 rupees, treble shape for 100 rupees, 5 horizontal lines for 500 rupees and 7 horizontal lines in 2000 note. Its special feature is that it is embossed upwards with the help of which blind people identify the notes whether the note is of 20 rupees or 100 rupees.

6. Intaglio Printing

This feature has been added to the currency note for the convenience of blind people. A special type of printing ink is used on the note. Due to this ink, Mahatma Gandhi's photo, RBI seal and Governor's oath, RBI Governor's sign are all embossed. The blind person discovers the value of the note only by palpating these raised digits. This printing style is used in Indian currency notes of 20 rupees, 50 rupees, 100 rupees, 500 rupees and 2000 rupee notes.

7. Color Changing Inks

This special type of ink has been used in 2000 and 500 rupee notes. The value of the note is written with the help of this ink. The speciality of this ink is that when the note is flat, these digits appear green and when the angle of the note is changed, its colour also changes.

8. See-through Register

Through this feature, whenever the note is brought in front of the light, the value of 500 or 2000 written on the note starts flashing. It appears on both sides of the note. On one side it is empty and on the other side, it appears full.

9. Fluorescence

On the currency note, there are special numbers at the bottom that tell the series of the note. They are printed with forensic ink. Whenever someone takes a note in ultraviolet light, these numbers begin to appear.
