NITI Aayog is going to create its own Poverty Index to measure poverty in the country. It aims to reduce poverty in states in association with GMPI. In fact, due to Corona, there is a fear of about 40 crore population in the country going below the poverty level. Due to the worsening economic conditions in the Corona period, the large population of the country is afraid of going below the poverty level. Recently, the NITI Aayog held an inter-ministerial meeting to improve the situation. UNDP was also present in this along with officials of the concerned ministry.
