Online food delivery company Zomato
has now announced to give leave to women and transgender employees due to
periods. Now women and transgender employees in the company will get a ten-day
period leave in a year. The company has named this rule as a period policy.
Jomato CEO Deepinder Goyal sent an
email to his employees on Saturday. It states that the duration of period leave
should not be associated with any shame or stigma and during this time
employees are completely free to take leave. Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal said
that at Zomato we want to promote a culture of trust, truth and acceptance.
From today all women in Zomato, as well as transgender employees, can avail 10
days' leave.
Goyal said that Zomato understands
that women and men are born with different biological reality. It is a part of
life. It is our job to ensure that we make room for our needs. Not only this,
Goyal wrote to his male employees that they should not be ashamed when a female
colleague says that they are on period leave.
Let us know that women are discharged
from the office during the period in the Bristol city of England. There was a
lot of debate in India about this rule of England. Now, this initiative of the
company is being praised on social media. The company has said that millions of
women and girls in India still lack awareness about menstruation. This leads to
discrimination and health-related problems.
